Meet Dr. Brenda B. Branic
Candidate for Richland District Two School Commissioner
Greetings! I am Dr. Brenda B. Branic, a community champion with a passion for quality
education where children are treated with dignity and respect, where children may realize an equitable climate that promotes diversity and inclusion, and an atmosphere that fosters a safe
space for all involved.
I am running to be your next Richland District Two School Board Commissioner.
I am prepared to keep our children safe from offenses such as freedom to read which occurs
because rules are created that ban books, disrespectful and unfair treatment of students that occurs because they are considered to be in marginalized group, or inequalities that occur because their socioeconomic status does not afford the comforts of a public education. We want our children involved in the process of learning. There is empirical data that shows involved children thrive. Every child can learn, just not the same way on the same day. Let us create opportunities that include their imaginations. Benjamin Franklin said it best; “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.”

PLATFORM
My goals and aspirations to help improve Richland District Two schools:

Support the current Administration;
-
Continue to work towards improvements of the expulsion process;

Develop the budget to support transportation for students who participate in magnet programs;

Focus on students remaining safe with the least amount of disruption during their school day;
-
Promote access to read freely and stop book bans;
-
Increase salaries for classified employees (bus drivers, cafeteria workers, aides) comparable to the national average;
-
Increase the number of behavioral specialists/School Psychologists in each school which will decrease expulsion rates and school disruptions.
CONNECTION
There are a plethora of problems we can work together to resolve. I know with your vote; we will
find amicable solutions to enhance, protect, and educate our 28,510 students. My daughter is a product of Richland Two School District and my three grandbabies are matriculating through Richland Two School District. I have been an active member of our community for over 25 years. I would like to be your long term board member. I promise to represent you in this role with civility and dignity. I promise to be the consummate role model whom our children will be proud to emulate.
